Adafruit LIS3DH Triple-Axis Accelerometer (+-2g/4g/8g/16g)
The LIS3DH is a very popular low power triple-axis accelerometer. It’s low-cost, but has just about every ‘extra’ you’d want in an accelerometer
We kept seeing this accelerometer in teardowns of commercial products and figured that if it’s the most-commonly used accelerometer, its worth having a breakout board!
This sensor communicates over I2C or SPI (our library code supports both) so you can share it with a bunch of other sensors on the same I2C bus. There’s an address selection pin so you can have two accelerometers share an I2C bus.
NeoPixel Nano 2020 RGB LEDs – 10-pack – WS2812B
These incredibly small surface-mount LEDs are an easy way to add a lot of very tiny (but bright!) colorful dots to your project. They are just mind-bogglingly small – 2mm square. As they are pretty darn tiny, they might be a bit difficult to hand solder. SMT techniques with solder paste and hot air will work best here.
NeoPixel Side-Light RGB LED w/ Integrated Driver Chip – 10-pack – SK6812B 4020
Make your own smart LED arrangement with the same fancy side light integrated LED that is used in our HalloWing M4, and side-emitting NeoPixel strip and pixels. These bare LEDs are a great alternative for folks who have loved and used Adafruit NeoPixel strips for a few years but want gorgeous, glowy light emitting at 90 degrees. This small 4020 (4mm x 2mm) RGB LED is fairly easy to solder and is the most compact way possible to integrate multiple bright LEDs to a design. The driver chip is inside the LED and has ~18mA constant current drive so the color will be very consistent even if the voltage varies, and no external resistors are required making your design minimal. Power the whole thing with 5VDC and you’re ready to rock.
Basic Fingerprint Sensor With Socket Header Cable
Secure your project with biometrics – this all-in-one optical fingerprint sensor will make adding fingerprint detection and verification super simple. It’s easy to use and more affordable than ever!
These modules are typically used in safes – there’s a high powered DSP chip that does the image rendering, calculation, feature-finding, and searching. Connect to any microcontroller or system with TTL serial, and send packets of data to take photos, detect prints, hash, and search.
Rugged Metal Silver Finish Pushbutton – 16mm 6V RGB Latching
By popular demand, we now have latching rugged metal push buttons with a full color RGB LED ring light! These chrome-plated metal buttons are rugged, but certainly not lacking in flair. Simply drill a 16mm hole into any material up to 1/4″ thick and you can fit these in place – there’s even a rubber gasket to keep water out of the enclosure.
On the front of the button is a flat metal actuator, surrounded by a plastic RGB LED ring. On the back there are two gold contacts for the button and 4 for the RGB LED ring (one anode and 3 cathodes for each red, green, and blue). Power the anode at 3-6V and light up the red, green, and blue LEDs by pulling their designated contacts to ground as you desire – there’s a built in resistor! If you want to use this with a higher voltage, say 12V or 24V, simply add a 1K ohm resistor in series with the LED cathodes to keep the LED current at around 20mA. You can PWM the RGB pins to make any color you like.
Rugged Metal Pushbutton with Black Finish – 16mm 6V RGB Latching
This button is a latching push button, when you press and release it the ‘normally-open’ contact shorts to the common contact and stays that way. When you press and release it a second time, the contacts open up again.
The switch and LED are electrically separated, so to change the color, use a microcontroller to both read the contact pins and toggle the color control pins.
ESP32-S2 Saola 1R Dev Kit featuring ESP32-S2 WROVER
ESP32-S2 Saola-1 is a small-sized ESP32-S2 based development board produced by Espressif. Just about all of the I/O pins are broken out to the pin headers on both sides for easy interfacing. Developers can either connect peripherals with jumper wires or mount ESP32-S2 Saola-1 on a breadboard – we recommend two breadboards ‘side-by-side’ since the Saola is a bit wide and you won’t have extra holes on one side for wiring.
This particular Saola comes with a WROVER module, which has 2 MB (8 Mbit) PSRAM mounted for a roomy development environment!
ESP32-S2 Kaluga Dev Kit featuring ESP32-S2 WROVER
The ESP32-S2-Kaluga-1 kit is a full featured development kit by Espressif for the ESP32-S2 that comes with everything but the kitchen sink! From TFTs to touch panels, this dev board has it all. Espressif designed this kit to demonstrate the ESP32-S2’s human-computer interaction functionalities and provide the users with the tools for development of human-computer interaction applications based on their new WiFi modules with the ESP32-S2 chip
The Kaluga comes with a WROVER module, which has 2 MB (8 Mbit) PSRAM mounted for a roomy development environment!
Air Pump and Vacuum DC Motor – 4.5V and 1.8 LPM – ZR320-02PM
Make inflatables or air-powered projects with this simple air pump. It’s great for beginner projects and super easy to use! The pump is basically a DC motor that is powered with ~4.5V and draws about ~600 mA. 5V should be just fine, so you can power it from the same power supply you use for other DC motors or servos.
When powered, the pump sucks air in from the side of the plastic casing and pushes it out the tubing port. Reversing the motor polarity does not change the direction of air flow! If you need to both inflate and deflate something, you’ll need two pumps. The flow rate is 1.8 LPM (liters per minute) and has a ‘stall’ max pressure of -55 kpa.
Air Pump and Vacuum DC Motor – 4.5 V and 2.5 LPM – ZR370-02PM
Make inflatables or air-powered projects with this simple air pump. It’s great for beginner projects and super easy to use! The pump is basically a DC motor that is powered with ~4.5V and draws about ~500 mA.
The flow rate is 2.5 LPM (liters per minute) and has a ‘stall’ max pressure of -55 kpa.
6V Air Valve with 2-pin JST PH Connector – FA0520E
Here’s a cool new valve for makers interested in pneumatic systems, hydraulics, inflatables, projects with compressed air, and the like. These air valves, also known by other names like, automatic bleeding valve or air release valve, are typically used to passively release air from a pressurized container.
This valve is rated at 6V but we used it just fine at 5V.
T-Connector For Silicone Tubing – 5 Pack
These go great with our silicone tubing for air pumps and valves – great for making adapters or splitters. The three ports have an outer diameter of about 4mm, so 3mm ID silicone tubing with make a nice seal.
Comes in a pack of 5, so you have plenty to mess with.
Silicone Tubing for Air Pumps and Valves – 3mm ID – 1 Meter Long
This soft and flexible silicone tubing is designed to go with our simple air pumps. Great for making air-powered projects with our set of air pumps and vacuums as well as air valves. Need to split or adapt this tubing? Our T connectors are a great match.
Has an inner diameter of 3mm, but is stretchy so we could easily fit it onto ports of 4mm OD.
This tubing is made of silicone; but it’s not rated for food safety. We recommend it for use with inflatable or air projects only. It’s super easy to cut and you get a full meter!
Adafruit FeatherWing OLED – 128×64 OLED Add-on For Feather – STEMMA QT / Qwiic
A Feather board without ambition is a Feather board without FeatherWings! This is the FeatherWing 128×64 OLED: it adds a gorgeous 128×64 monochrome OLED plus 3 user buttons to any Feather main board. Using our Feather Stacking Headers or Feather Female Headers you can connect a FeatherWing on top of your Feather board and let the board take flight!
These displays are small, only about 1.3″ diagonal, but very readable due to the high contrast of an OLED display. This screen is made of 128×64 individual white OLED pixels and because the display makes its own light, no backlight is required. This reduces the power required to run the OLED and is why the display has such high contrast; we really like this miniature display for its crispness! We also toss on a reset button and three mini tactile buttons called A B and C, so you can add a mini user interface to your feather. If you’ve used our 128×32 OLED FeatherWing, you’ll be happy to know that this FeatherWing is pin compatible for a quick and easy upgrade.
