Carbon 2185: Terminal Overdrive, Yet Another Cyberpunk RPG #cyberpunk
I’m amazed at how many cyberpunk games there are out there. Analog and digital. RPGs, board games, card games, miniature skirmish games, you name it. I try to keep up. I can’t keep up!
I don’t know if I should be embarrassed or not over the fact that I didn’t know that this game, Carbon 2185, existed until they launched their recent Kickstarter. This campaign is to fund a reprint and touch-up of the core ruleset and to release Terminal Directive, a sourcebook/adventure written by well-known Games Workshop author, Ben Counter.
One of the things that makes Carbon 2185 unique is that it is built on D&D 5th edition rules using the 5e Open Game License (OGL). So, if you know the rules to 5e D&D, you’ll already know the basic mechanics of Carbon 2185.
Another thing that immediately caught my eye was the high level of quality in the artwork. They promise even more and better art in the new edition and Terminal Directive expansion. I also noticed that most of the character depictions on the covers and in the internal art are female. Nice work.
Check out the Kickstarter here. And the game’s creator, Dragon Turtle Games, here.
