Rewinding a JLC MasterQuartz stepper motor
Vintage watch repairman Chris Radek aka The Time Guy writes about re-winding a tiny stepper motor from a very early quartz crystal wristwatch:
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Quartz is the most famous watch that used the Girard Perregaux 350 series of movements, a neat and very early Quartz.
This one came to me with a parts movement, but sadly both stepper motors had failed with open windings. So I’ll rewind one of them.
The diameter of the wire Chris used is 15 microns, the equivalent of 54AWG—absolutely tiny! Check out the rest of the photos or other entries in his blog.
