Is “Nanotech” Oil Better Than a Regular Synthetic Oil?
In this episode of Project Farm, Todd tests Miller’s Nandodrive oil against Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. He conducts tests for fuel efficiency, the ability to reduce engine wear, and overall performance. He also sent both oils out to an independent lab for testing of antiwear additives, flash point, and detergents/dispersants.
The results? Both oils performed extremely well. From the Nanodrive lab results, it had a better formulation of antiwear additives and detergent/dispersants, but the Penzoil performed slightly better in Todd’s wear and performance tests. Bottom line is that the Nano is probably not worth the $4 extra bucks a quart for most applications.
