Making Damascus Micarta with Resin and Cloth
In this video, reclaimed materials maker, Tim Sway, and Narwhal Labs’ Jeff Shaw, show how to make beautiful Damascus Micarta using strips of colored felt and resin. Resin-impregnated strips of different-colored fabric are placed in a mold and then pressed together between 3D printed patterns to create the Damascus effect.
Tim’s main project focus is guitars made of largely reclaimed materials. He decided to see how Damascus Micarta might look as a guitar fingerboard. The results are amazing.
