🏴 Protesting food waste & militarism thru direct action & mutual aid 🏴 We host meal shares every Saturday: Franklin Square at 1pm & McPherson Square at 3 ✊🥕 – Food Not Bombs DC is a group that offers food to everyone! We share meals weekly in DC’s parks, where encampments of unhoused people are located. Our work is practical: we believe that food is a human right, and we show this by sharing a meal weekly. Our work is environmental: we only serve vegan and vegetarian meals, with ingredients that would otherwise be thrown away. And our work is political: “Food Not Bombs” means to provide for people first, regardless of identity. The first servings were in direct response to obscene military spending in the face of inhuman levels of poverty. For over forty years, new FNB chapters have opened up worldwide, to offer a vision of mutual aid, rather than top-down control. Members of our collective have collaborated with and cooked with chapters around the world. We don’t only support our community, but we also support FNB chapters around the world-especially those who are organizing under especially repressive governments or who are at greater risk of attack.

It is both painful and inspiring to see members of Food Not Bombs around the world continue to organize as organizers have been assaulted, arrested and murdered. This is a movement to empower the community, and chapters are winning both on the ground and in the courts. If you believe in Food Not Bombs like I do, check in with your local chapter or donate to us on PayPal at “@foodnotbombsdc” . If you want your donation to be quickly directed to international chapters, please write “international” in the note. #foodnotbombs #directaction
