The Wild Bird Fund rehabilitates over 7,000 animals every year. If you find an injured wild bird in the New York City area, they are your first call. Donate here! Here’s more:

Each year, we rehabilitate more than 7,500 animals. Rehabilitation includes x-rays, diagnostic testing, surgery, medication, bandaging, splinting, physical therapy and special diets. We treat more than 150 species, from common house sparrows, pigeons and Eastern gray squirrels to rarities such as Virginia rails and snowy owls. This work is funded by donations and accomplished by an animal care staff of about 30 wildlife rehabilitators, who are aided by many dozens of volunteers.

Because 90% of the animals brought to us each year are directly or indirectly injured by human activity, we believe in educating our children by encouraging awareness, real-life observation, and hands-on learning. We strive to teach each student how they can coexist with and help New York City’s wildlife.

Our education programs work with NYC kids to inspire awareness, accountability, and action.
